Frequently Asked Questions

Short version up front: it's free, it's self-hosted, there's no license to buy.

Is Seam(De)Stress really free? Is there a license to buy?

Yes, completely. Seam(De)Stress is released under the AGPL-3.0 license and there is no license to purchase — no per-seat fee, no premium tier, no feature paywall. You self-host it, so the only ongoing cost is your own server.

Do I need technical knowledge to self-host it?

Basic comfort with the command line is enough. If you can run docker compose up, you can have it running in a few minutes — database migrations run automatically, and flask seed sets up an admin account and demo data for you.

Can clients check their order status without creating an account?

Yes. Every order gets a tokenized tracking link with a QR code. Clients open it on their phone to see a status timeline and a "ready for pickup" banner — no login required. Links are revocable and regenerable at any time from the staff order view.

Does it handle invoicing and VAT?

Yes. Combine one or more orders into a sequentially-numbered invoice, download a branded PDF with a VAT breakdown, and track draft, sent, paid, and overdue status. Invoice numbering format is configurable from Settings, and invoicing is admin-only.

What languages does the interface support?

The staff back office and the client-facing portal and documents are available in Dutch (default), French, and English. Documents render in the client's own language regardless of which staff member is logged in.

Can multiple staff members use it, with different permissions?

Yes, and with no per-seat fee to worry about. Admins can create, edit, and deactivate staff and admin accounts from the app — no shell or database access needed. Invoicing is admin-only, matching a typical shop's separation between counter staff and the books.

Can I attach photos of a garment to an order?

Yes. Each garment can have EXIF-corrected, thumbnailed photos uploaded straight from a phone during intake, stored on a mounted volume alongside the rest of the order.

What happens if I don't configure email or SMS?

The app keeps working. Leave SMTP_HOST or TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID empty and notification attempts are simply logged as failed instead of erroring — you can add credentials later without anything breaking in the meantime.

Can I run it without Docker?

Yes. Set up a Python virtual environment, install requirements-dev.txt, run flask db upgrade and flask seed, then flask run --debug. SQLite is supported for local development; PostgreSQL is recommended for production.

Is my data secure? Who can see it?

Since Seam(De)Stress is self-hosted, your client and order data never leaves your own server. Passwords are hashed with Argon2, sessions and forms are protected via Flask-Login and Flask-WTF, and login attempts are rate-limited by default.

Does it track materials and inventory?

Yes. Track thread, zippers, buttons, fabric, and other materials with quantity on hand, a low-stock indicator, and a full stock-movement audit log (received / consumed / adjusted). Picking a material on an order line consumes stock automatically and flows through to invoicing.

How do I get support or report a bug?

Open an issue or start a discussion on GitHub, or email info@drytrix.com directly. There's no paid support tier — community support via GitHub is the primary channel.
